Classical Studies 2276: Greek and Roman Art and Archaeology examines major monuments in the ancient Greek and Roman worlds with modern archaeological and art historical approaches,to introduce students to the use of material evidence to understand the past. Artistic, architectural, and archaeological evidence are studied in the context of political, economic, and social developments of the periods. The course will include a select survey of Greek and Roman painting, sculpture, and architecture from the Minoan through the Roman Imperial period, as well as a history of Classical Archaeology, and its principles, aims, and techniques
