Applying for Graduation

In order to receive a credential for their chosen program, all students must apply for graduation. Students are encouraged to apply for graduation during the semester in which they complete their program requirements. Graduation application forms are available online and at Registrar and Enrolment Services.

Graduation application forms are made available in early August for graduation ceremonies occurring the following June. The cost is $25.00 per application. There is also a late fee of $25.00 for any applications received after the posted deadline.

Application Assessment

The program requirements for graduation are based on the effective term a student enters their program. This term is often, but not always, the term in which a student is admitted to the College. It is recommended that students verify their program details on their unofficial transcript by logging into myLangara. To change programs, students need complete a program change request form and submit it to Registrar and Enrolment Services.

Term-specific requirements for all programs can be found in the applicable calendar for that term. Students can also use the graduation evaluation tool in myLangara to check their specific program requirements.

In addition to fulfilling specific program requirements, students must also adhere to the requirements set out in the Langara credentials policy. Program effective term dates prior to January 1, 2014 are covered under the previous credential policy. Program effective term dates of January 1, 2014 or later are covered under the current credential policy and regulations.

Students are required to complete the last 40% of their course credits at Langara College. Any exemptions in requirements must be approved by the Graduation Adjudication Committee.

Graduation Adjudication Requests

Students seeking exemptions from graduation requirements must submit a written request to the Graduation Adjudication Committee. The request should be submitted (along with an accompanying Graduation Adjudication Request Form) to Registrar and Enrolment Services before February 1st. Transfer Credits

All transfer credit requests should be submitted by students prior to their final term at Langara College. Students must submit a Transfer Credit Request Form and official transcript(s) to Registrar and Enrolment Services. The transfer credit process takes a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks. Any transfer credit requests, including all supporting documentation, should be submitted before January 3, 2019 in order to be eligible for a Langara credential. Only completed, graded coursework will be evaluated for transfer credit. More information regarding transfer credit can be found here.

Outstanding Accounts

Students who have an outstanding debt to the College for any reason (college fees, library fines, overdue books, or equipment) will not be permitted to receive a credential or official transcript from Langara. Upon clearing outstanding amounts owed to the College, students must inform Registrar and Enrolment Services. Students can check the status of their accounts under Account Balance & Payments through myLangara.

Confirmation of Graduation

Once a student’s graduation application has been approved, a confirmation letter will be issued to the student by Registrar and Enrolment Services. A notation will also be added to the student’s transcript, indicating the program and the semester in which the requirements were completed. Official credentials are issued during convocation in June.

Graduation with Distinction

Candidates who achieve a minimum overall grade point average of 3.67 in the final 40% of their credits taken towards a Langara credential are eligible to graduate with distinction. The notation of "Graduation with Distinction" will be printed on the academic transcript.

Student Information Changes

If a student changes their name after submitting a Graduation Application Form, they need to complete a Request for Change of Student Information Form. This needs to be submitted, along with proper name change documentation, to Registrar and Enrolment Services. Address changes can be through Registrar and Enrolment Services or through myLangara. It is recommended that the student also notifies the Graduation Evaluation Team of the change to ensure proper delivery of documents.

Mailing Credentials

Students who do not pick up their credential at the convocation ceremony may pick up their credential at the Registrar and Enrolment Services office between June 26 to July 5, 2019. All unclaimed credentials will be mailed to students at the address on file via regular Canada Post mail service after July 5, 2019.
